One thing many overlook when carrying concealed is the necessity of medical items to go along with their pistol. You are already carrying a gun, spare magazine, flashlight and most of us also carry knives, but almost no one carries any form of medical kit. If the fight comes to you it is possible that you may be wounded and if you don’t have anything to stop the bleeding it could be life threatening. The difference between life and death for you or a loved one could very well be the fact that you had a medical kit and are able to stop or slow the bleeding until EMS arrives on scene.
You don’t need to have a full blown EMS medical kit that you tote around in a backpack or a duffel bag. Carry something small that can fit into your pocket easily without adding unnecessary bulk. At a minimum, you should have a tourniquet, and if you want to go the extra mile, you can easily add pressure bandages, quick clotting gauze and even a form of chest seal. There are many great CCW medical kits that offer everything a citizen would need in case of emergency. Dark Angel Medical is a personal favorite and I recommend them to everyone anytime someone asks and they offer several different kits in all shapes and sizes.
Having a medical kit can very well help save lives but I strongly caution you NOT to perform any sort of medical aid if you have no formal training as you could actually do more harm than good. Be diligent and make sure EMS is contacted If you do perform any medical aid, be sure to tell EMS exactly what you have done as this is a huge help so they know what they are getting in to.
